Welcome to Civil & Transportation Engineering

Traffic Management and ITS, 04 – 08 February, 2019

Sponsored by

The Ministry Of Road Transport and Highways Government of India, New Delhi

The sustained economic growth in recent years in India has brought opportunities and challenges to the planning and management of the Indian transportation system. Though India has one of the largest road networks in the world, the available road infrastructure and public transport services in the metropolitan cities are highly inadequate for achieving faster movement of commuters in comparison with the situation prevalent in the cities of the developed world. By 2025, approximately 60% of the global population and more than 4.6 billion people will live in Urban areas. In 2050, 80% of the world’s population could live in major metropolitan areas. Technology and mobility are two concerns that will monopolize the conversation about how society can help provide a high-quality life to billions of people. Intelligent Transport System (ITS) is at the heart of us that keeps safe in our city’s roads and tunnel systems. For the safe and efficient movement of people and goods on roadways, Traffic Management uses Engineering and ITS techniques for the issues we all face with regards to transport and mobility which are too complex to be tackled alone. It is in this context, ESCI is organizing a 5-day programme on “Traffic Management and ITS” for the management of facilities for any mode of transportation for the safe, rapid, comfortable, convenient, economical, and environmentally compatible movement of people and goods.
