Introduction Sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) are systems designed to efficiently manage the drainage of surface water in the urban environment. Population growth, increasing pollution of drinking water, floodings as well as more frequent and longer periods of droughts all encourage the consequences of climate change, including flooding caused by extreme rain events. Eighty percent of a municipality's problems are caused by twenty percent of its sanitary sewers & drainage systems. In this respect, Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SUDS) can play a key role in urban water management and contribute to building cities that are attractive for people to live in. The best way to avoid the majority of future problems is to pay greater attention to them during the planning, design and implementation phase. There is an increasing need for a more sustainable approach to managing surface water. Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) reduce the effect on the quality and quantity of runoff from developments, and can provide opportunities for amenity and biodiversity at no additional cost – but only if the design is approached in the correct manner. To design an effective urban drainage system, knowledge of the technical design principles for each component of the system is required. This three days workshop is aimed at those who want to upgrade their skills Urban drainage systems, overview of fundamental considerations when approaching a SuDS design, key considerations such as how runoff is collected are missed, which can significantly affect the design etc. . Participants will learn to develop a plan to mitigate the environmental impact caused by urban development. Introduction Air pollution has become a common phenomenon in the urban centres of the country. In recent times, a lot of emphasis has been placed on improving the air quality in urban centres. Air pollution in India is quite a serious issue with the major sources being fuel wood and biomass burning, fuel adulteration, vehicle emission and traffic congestion. In autumn and winter months, large scale choad residue burning in agriculture fields - a low cost alternative to mechanical tilling - is a major source of smoke, smog and particulate pollution. India has a low per capita emissions of greenhouse gases, but the country as a whole is the third largest after China and the United States. The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act was passed in 1981 to regulate air pollution and there have been some measurable improvements. However, the 2016 Environmental Performance Index ranked India 141 out of 180 countries. Air quality modeling is a tool for predicting the air quality at the places where it is not being monitored and also across the time horizons. It has been used extensively in devising appropriate strategies for air quality management. Moreover, air quality models have been used in environmental impact assessment studies to predict the impact of proposed projects over the air quality of the region, so that mitigation measures can be drawn for pollution prevention. Both the monitoring and modeling of air pollution is essential to provide a picture of the damage humans are doing to the environment, and to enable pollution problems to be discovered and dealt with Air Pollution abatement. Its mission is to identify and test the contaminants composition in the environmental sample, and to study the nature, composition and structure of the environmental quality within a certain historical period and a certain space. So that we can test and judge if the quality of the environment is in compliance with environmental quality standards set by the state and determine the pollution caused by pollutants.
