Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) is an Autonomous Organ of The Institution of Engineers (India). Established in 1981, the Engineering Staff College of India (ESCI) is a premier center of excellence dedicated to high-quality training, education, and consultancy in engineering, technology, and techno-management.

Shaping Future-Ready Professionals

As the engineering landscape undergoes rapid digitization, technical expertise alone is no longer sufficient. ESCI bridges the gap between academia and industry by equipping professionals with:

  • Emerging Technologies: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), Unmanned Vehicles, and Cyber Security
  • Leadership & Strategy: Emotional Intelligence, Governance, Strategic Planning, and Risk Management
  • Multidisciplinary Expertise: The only institute in Asia offering diverse engineering disciplines under one roof

Training & Development Framework

Each year, ESCI empowers approximately 8,000 professionals through 400–500 specialized programs, including:

  • Continuing Professional Development Programs (CPDPs)
  • Specific Training Programs (STPs)
  • NCVET-aligned skill and certification programs
  • AICTE-approved PGDM programs

Learning methodologies include workshops, conferences, e-learning, industry visits, study tours, and hands-on field exposure.

National Capacity Building Initiatives – Power Sector

Under the Ministry of Power, Government of India, and under the aegis of Power Finance Corporation (PFC), ESCI is implementing middle-management capacity building programs for engineers under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS).

Five different 3-day training programs were envisaged by PFC:

  1. Policy and Regulatory Aspects of Electricity Distribution
  2. Energy Transition including Climate Change and Sustainable Development
  3. Cybersecurity in the Power Sector
  4. Energy Portfolio Management and Power System Operation Management
  5. Renewable Energy Technologies

These programs are aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, regulatory understanding, sustainability, and technological preparedness of DISCOM engineers nationwide.

Empanelment with Central Ministries & Agencies

Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Government of India
ESCI is empaneled under the scheme “Workshop-cum-Training Programme for Development of Human Resources in States’/UTs’ Transport Departments”, supporting capacity building of transport and highway officials.

National Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (NRIDA)
ESCI is empaneled by NRIDA, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. ESCI contributes to training and knowledge dissemination in rural infrastructure and connectivity sectors.

Global Impact & National Recognition

ESCI has successfully executed national and international assignments for:

  • World Bank
  • UNESCO
  • UNICEF

It also serves as a Key Resource Centre (KRC) for:

  • Ministry of Jal Shakti (Jal Jeevan Mission)
  • Central Electricity Authority
  • Department of Science & Technology
  • Ministry of Rural Water Supply

Consultancy Services

In addition to training and education, ESCI provides expert consultancy services across engineering and management domains, offering customized, result-oriented solutions to meet client-specific requirements.

School of Post Graduate Studies

ESCI hosts a dedicated School of Post Graduate Studies, offering Graduate Courses like PGDM General Management and PGDM Infrastructure Management, and Undergraduate Courses like Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA), B.Tech – Computer Science and Engineering (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), and B.Tech – Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. These programs are designed in alignment with industry needs and national skill frameworks.

These programs blend academic rigor with practical exposure to ensure career-ready professionals.
